I used to occasionally play with a fella who had one in the late '90s- he picked it up for like $4 at Music Go Round. Another friend's wife recently spotted one sitting with some trash on the curb a few blocks from their house. Worked perfectly!

As I recall, these weren't particularly flexible, but sounded pretty good.

I've always loved the sound of the PS 1A. I have 2 one works good the other is a parts unit. These Fx had a lot of noise even when working right but the phase is so liquid and the speed shifts are smooth. I bought a Infanem Faye Sing a couple of years ago that does all the PS1A plus other sounds too boot. I use the PS1A for recording but I couple it with a Rocktron Hush rack unit which kills the noise.

Yeah it is pretty dern noisy through the Rock Amp without any noise redux. The swirly background phased noise is pretty neat though.

Interesting fact, the PS 1A was designed by Tom Oberheim. I believe Oberheim Electronics built it too.
