Hey
So, back in 2001 I bought an ST Audio (also known as Hoontech) C-Port:

Back in the day it was pretty sweet, especially for the price. However, ST Audio no longer exists, which means I’m stuck using 12 year old drivers, on Windows XP 32 bit. LAME!
So, I’m saving up to eventually replace this audio interface. I would like to keep 8 analogue inputs so I can close mic my drums. It doesn’t necessarily need to have mic preamps, since I have an FMR Audio preamp, and can use my (admittedly Behringer) mixer for the rest of the channels if I need to for now.
I’m up for PCI-e, firewire, or USB. I’m kindof going through a bit of an identity crisis regarding operating systems – I’ve got Mac at work and on the laptop, but I think I’m going to stay windows at home. If, for no other reason, I can afford to keep a reasonably high spec’d home built PC, where as if I bought a Mac for home I would be limited to an iMac. However, it would be nice if the new interface worked in both Sonar on Windows, and whatever on Mac (I haven’t done any recording on a Mac yet).
Does anyone have any thoughts? I was looking perhaps at something like this:

But am wondering whether it is worth the cash, considering I don’t really care about the onboard DSP. Perhaps a Presonus Firestudio or something would be more suitable?

Any thoughts?
