Hello all-

Yep, it's the idiot again with another strange question. Again, if this is the wrong spot, yell gently. I'll gladly move it.

I've been all over the net and to every DIY site I could think of and cannot find the item in question. I'm looking for a 9v battery adapter to a boss-type plug with a negative center. I can find all kinds of positive center types, but nothing for the negative center needed for guitar pedals.

Which begs the question: why are guitar pedals negative center for their power supplies, when the standard seems to be the reverse?

There are lot of 9 volt supplies with center negative. I like both the Visual Sound One Spot and the Godlyke Powerall. Both are wall wart type supplies but are digital power supplies and are very noise and hum free, they can handle up to 2 amps total at 9 volts and come with adapters to work with many variations of power supplies.

Now I will get on my soap box. The standard of negative center coaxial connector was a very stupid choice. This means that if you use a daisy chain to hook up your pedals to power any unused connectors can have their barrel touch the metal housing of an FX pedal will make a short circuit. With a few exceptions almost all pedals have grounded metal cases tied to the negative connection of the power source which was fine for batteries but very few players use batteries except in their FuzzFaces. This has been a big peeve of mine. Sorry for the rant.
