Hey, Future DIYers!
Three-Minute Soldering Lesson

My fave of many youtube soldering tutorials.

He should have added: Don’t touch the hot end of the iron. Work in a ventilated space. Wash your hands afterwards. Don’t eat the solder. Sheesh! What’s wrong with kids these days? 😉

perfect! the only thing i would add is – to save your septum and some brain cells, find some rosin core tin/copper/silver solder. it is easy to use, cleans up nicely, and doesn’t harm you, like the lead based stuff can!

Hey, I use lead-based solder all the time, and I’ve encountered no brain damage whatsoever. In fact,

Well, maybe you’re right.

Hey, that was a nice way to show how easy is to sold and build things. I myself studied eletronics online and soldering and started some diy projects…i was really afraid the kid would actually grab a tube amp me built and rock some ‘eruption’ in a van halen replica also built by himself

I agree on the silver bearing solder. It will solder many more materials like steel etc. It also works better on gold plated contacts as normal solder strips away the gold negating the advantages of the gold plate. In general it is much easier to use and less frustrating. Radio shack has small rolls that work great, these small rolls might be close to a lifetime supply for most folk.
