I have a question on Making a DPDT (On-On) switch as a kill-switch for my guitar.

If I make the following connection.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Will this enable me to both kill the audio output AND disconnect the battery from the circuit so I do not get any battery loss while the audio output is cut?

Oh. Sorry btw the pickup is for the acoustic pickup (Shadow nanomag on the Epi Les Paul Ultra II) and the battery is for that pickup 🙂

Thanks for any advise in advance 😀

Disconnect the blue wire at lower right, otherwise your battery's + will be shorted to ground when you turn the pickup off.

You may notice a bit of a pop if you connect the battery to the circuit at the moment you're connecting the preamp's output to the amp. It depends on the preamp itself. If it has a power on mute, no worries. If you experience popping when flipping the switch, I'd suggest just leaving the preamp on (it probably has a power disconnect routed to the guitar's jack?).

Yep the power is on a separte 9V battery (The one I'm trying to disconnect) but it isn't a big problem without the battery disconnected I was just finding a way to extend the battery life just by a tiny amount 😉 Thanks for the answer!
