Back to Arduino and guitar, the fine people, er, "freqs" at Open Music Labs (who concocted the Arduino based FFT I mentioned) have published a design for the MICrODEC, which uses the same microcontroller as an Arduino to create a DSP guitar box that seems like it can get some pretty heinous sounds.

I've played around with an Arduino DUE and JR's pedalSHIELD interface from electrosmash.com/pedalshield. I actually just finished up a project with it for an intro C programming class a couple months ago where I programmed repeating/looping effect like Russell Lissack uses on Bloc Party's "Truth" (for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1CSMdDIRGg). Basically, two of the knobs set a tempo and interval (quarter/eighth/sixteenth notes for roughly 120-180 bpm), and then it "listens" for you to play something which it repeats at that rate until you play something else. I also made it so if you adjust the knobs while it's repeating, it'll mess with the pitch too, like if you're adjusting the playback speed of a tape. I'm at work now, so I don't have the code with me, but I can share later if anyone's interested.
