Post Recording with iPad, Garageband, and Tascam iXZ

I'm trying to record with an iPad and Garageband. I'm using the Tascam iXZ as my interface. I have my guitar plugged into the iXZ, the iXZ is plugged into the iPad, and my headphones are plugged into the iXZ. I can hear sound through the headphones, but there's no guitar sound.

Do you have good batteries in it? Not trying to be insulting but it's easy to overlook simple stuff. I have the peavey amplink interface which is similar IMHO these powered interfaces sound pretty good better than the non-powered type like the iRig etc. You need to keep in mind that since you are using the headphone jack it is possible to get slightly intermittent connections. So make sure the iPad is sitting securely and no jumping around with the guitar. If you are using a headphone extension cable between the iPad and the Tascam make sure it has 3 rings rather than the 2 that most headphone cables have, that will stop the guitar signal for sure. I also have the guitajack which works well but needs a 30 pin extension to be practical. I mainly use an Alesis I/O dock these days I like that it has all the I/O I need and it powers the iPad which is great for performance and extended recording sessions. You interface does not interfere with main connector so you can power it up. Good luck do a folluw up post and if you need more help I'll try to help. I check the forum regularly.

Thanks for the reply. The device has the original battery. I tested with the phantom power on and off, I think phantom power should not be required with guitar. That said I think the battery should be good, since the light goes on.

in Garageband, do you have monitoring turned on?
Sorry if this is presumptuous, but it's an easy to overlook detail.

I think I have both power and monitoring turned on. I think I'll give it another go tomorrow. I seem to remember changing settings and flipping switches and not getting a peep of guitar out of the thing. Though I could always here the ipad though the headphone, which were plugged into the iXZ. So the sound is getting through the device.
