Does anyone have experience carrying out ‘circuit bending’ mods on guitar pedals, and any ideas/info you’d be willing to share. Personally, I want to hear/create weird and wonderful pedals, rather than carry out mods which give a mildly brighter or duller tone to an existing pedal.

I also wanted to share 2 great books, whilst not directly guitar/pedal mod related, may inspire some new ‘outside the (stomp) box’ ideas for others future pedal builds. Definitely worth a read!

The biggest evidence I've seen of a circuit bending approach to guitar pedals is the catalog of Boss DS-1 mods out there. For example,
https://casperelectronics.com/finished-pieces/boss-ds-1/ with wiring diagram here: https://www.casperelectronics.com/images/finishedpieces/BOSSds-1/BOSSSSDS-1.jpg and
line6.com/support/servlet/JiveServlet/download/242703-13773/Boss%20DS-1%20Mods.pdf pages 4 through 7.

https://www.experimentalistsanonymous.com/ is a good hub for this stuff, and one I don't frequent nearly enough given the knowledge and know-how there, but I'm honestly just not quite that weird. (Honest.)

I remember seeing some circuit bent FX pedals but I can't recall the site. This would probably be not so applicable to the simpler boutique pedals like OD and fuzz except for the addition of a positive feedback control that is stock on few pedals. What might be good would be circuit bending a guitar multi-FX processor and I suspect that all the books above would be applicable. You can occasionally find older used multi-FX units cheap that would be a good starting point.

Stumbled across this on YouTube and just about wet myself. This is the kind of pedal I want to build myself. It all kicks off around 09:40.
