I recently picked up an Variax Acoustic 700. It's really a gas. 16 different modeled instrument sounds - from parlors through jumbos, jazz boxes, reso, nylon, banjo, sitar, 12 string etc. Also unlimited tuning options on tap - virtual capo, individual string alterations, and standard alternate tunings at the push of a button and slide of slider. Mic position and compression are also controlled by onboard sliders.

The guitar is no longer made. It has a very decent neck and plays well. You need to play it loud enough to not hear the strummed strings to avoid dissonances with the altered tunings. No feedback at all. 😎

The models are not perfect, but do sound quite good. It works really well in the group I currently play with - 2 acoustics (sometimes with raunch and wah) and 2 hand percussionists. Pretty neat to be able to turn a knob and sound like a twelve string or drop an octave and play bass lines.

Can't wait to try it with the Boomerang on the way from E-Bay!

I love the new jtv line. I've got one waiting for me at home and a friend of mine has been test driving it for me. I'm not sure if he's going to give it back.....
