the comments on that post generally echo my sentiments. It's awesome that more people are attempting this, although there are already a lot of similar options. The open hardware design is a good starting point, but you also need to develop a standard and open language which can be compiled from apps like MAX, a much more advanced and functional user interface, and an expandable and link-able architecture. As it stands, using a cheap digital multifx or something like a tone print pedal will generally offer these 'standard' effects at a higher quality, lower cost, and greater versatility/easier use. This works for hosting new effect designs, but I certainly don't want to program them all in C from scratch. But I've ranted on this in other threads....
