Hey everyone. I just picked up two of these things on Craigslist for next to nothing. One is being used as a 2x5 cabinet (electronics bypassed), the other looks complete enough that it may even work. There's a fair bit of info on the EHX Freedom and Dirt Road amps (one 12, 55 watts), but almost nothing on these later, smaller amps. Anyone know anything?

If you need a visual, check out this post on my blog: https://inspireformation.blogspot.ca/2012/08/smokey-it-smokes.html and click on the video. There's a few shots of it's outers and innards (although you're only hearing the 5inch CTS speakers, and a Zinky Smoky amp is providing the umph).

So you say it looks complete enough that it might even work...... Does it?

Don't know, really. We have to build an AC cable for it and then hope that the obviously retrofitted battery is indeed rechargeable and we don't burn down my buddy's house. I'll keep you posted, though.

Hey everyone. I promised to publish some photos of the old girl. Since I'm too dumb (and lazy) to have any luck with photos on this site, it's easier to send you here: https://inspireformation.blogspot.ca/2012/08/electro-harmonix-freedom-brothers-photos.html

Wow. I hadn't researched the amp at all. I thought it was a fairly modern model. I'm sure the rechargable battery was quite intriguing at the time! The question is, How reliable was the original battery when you played it?

I just picked up two of these in non-functioning condition about a month ago (twenty bucks!), and you cannot find a review of these anywhere, so I haven't the faintest. It's gotta' be easier to deal with than the earlier Freedom 1x12 forty D-cell arrangement! I actually bought 'em to use one as a recording cabinet, and gave my buddy (who is much handier digging around in amp innards) the other one to have his way with. He's pretty busy right now, but if he gets it up and running you better believe I'll run a test demo and post it! The world has a right to know!

40 D-cells! Man. That's a lot of battery right there! I don't even want to know how much it would cost to keep that running on a consistent schedule.

You would certainly need a robust busking schedule at an extremely lucrative corner to make that worth your while. And D-cells aren't light...
