I was thinking about the Eastwood P 90 Special , a little cheaper with standard P 90s but setup with 2 vol 2 tone https://www.eastwoodguitars.com/p-90-special-cherry/ At least my obsessions are consistent , I have wanted a Les Paul Jr/Special /Melody Maker since I bought Pat Travers Making Magic back in the 70s. Don't get me started on Pat Thrall playing with Go, StomuYamashta can really put together incredible music(and musicians). Stay safe and have fun kids !

On the other hand I fixed most of the intonation just by moving the low e side of the bridge back about 3/16 of an inch. Like everything it has good and bad built into it.Looks like the paint is going to be a tough removal on the neck too , thick finish and binding ugh.

I had bad prospects for how that would look until the last post. Pretty nice. Is there residual grain filler in the pores or are they there to feel?

(Possibly related thought: Dean Zelinsky now has guitars with necks with an extensive texture carve that is supposed to reduce drag, which strikes as a bit counter intuitive.)

No filler anywhere , stiil have no idea how a piece of wood with a freaking knot was put into a guitar neck (does QA exist)? Mahogany is so different from Maple when it comes to an oil finish , you get to feel the grain and that could be a deal breaker for some people. I might sand it up to 1200 grit if I feel it is too uh rough is hardly the right word maybe grainy ? I think the glue is a little lighter might be what is getting picked up in the pics? The neck will lighten up in color as time passes too , it is kind of dark .All in all after a set of tuners, a nut and a bridge it is going to be fantastic!

The Go albums were incredible especially the "Live in Paris" double LP only available as import in the states. I wore out several copies of that LP and they were pretty nice pressings. I also dug Pat Thrall when he played with Automatic Man previous to his Go and Pat Travers stuff. On Automatic Man he got many tones that were very synth-like and at times it was difficult to tell who was playing what. He added a really nice feel to the Pat Travers LPs he played on. He is one day younger than me (that makes him 60) which explains stuff as Virgo guitarists are off the beaten path usually. There was at least one interview with Pat Thrall in GP back in the day, he credited Al Dimeola as helping him tweak his timing and the art of ending notes rather than playing over one note with another. He has a web site that has some history on it, he did soundtracks for films quite a bit.
