https://guitarfetish.3dcartstores.com/Factory-Buyout-Clearance-Sale_c_410.html

So, as has been posted on MANY a guitar forum already, guitar fetish got their hands on truckloads of B-stock necks and bodies. They are selling them, as-is, for around $30-40 a pop.

I am interested.

However, I have no guitar assembly experience at all. What can I expect to be getting myself into? I am thinking about a bolt-on body and neck, however none of the necks 'match' the body they were intended for, so I would be purchasing a body and a neck and hoping they 'fit'.

If they have a matching scale length, then is there anything else to consider when making the purchase? And what kind of 'assembly' should I expect to do? I assume drilling and bolting, but I'm unsure if there is more to it than that.

Any advice & discussion appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the link, I just ordered a double cut body and a fretless LP style neck, endless frustrationgood times ahead 🙂

This looks like a pretty good and fairly inexpensive way to get some mostly complete bodies and necks for further tinkering.

To me assembly isn't difficult, if all of the parts used are more or less meant to go together, a little sanding to make the neck fit the pocket, or drilling some holes for pickup rings or pick guards is really no big deal.

I have assembled 2 guitars from kits (Strat and Explorer) and had a really good time doing it, my advice is do some research, watch some videos and remember to take your time.

Cool, thanks!

Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to get! Tele with a 'metal' neck? Strat with an LP neck?

Definitely going for something 'unique'

I haven't been able to grab one of these yet.

Be careful to check the scale length on both the neck and the body. Don't want to have a 25 1/2" neck on a 24 3/4" body. Also I would suggest getting something with a four or five on the condition key, for minimal surface scratching. Other than that I agree with MMMagnus

I'd be interested in hearing what the quality of these are like before I'd put $$$ into them.

I picked up a couple necks. Even if they're not great, with a little fret dressing, they should be plenty good enough for building some cigar box guitars or the like.
