Just rescued an Ampeg VH 140c and it is a great sounding SS amp. 2, 70 watt power amps, reverb and chorus, dirty channel goes from nice to insane, clean channel is crisp. Has a ton of input and output options too.Seems to be a highly sought after black/death metal amp for some reason ?

Im just curious...so I have this question...I have a Peavey Valvking 1x10 combo I run through a Marshall 2x12 ext modded with Vintage 30's..It has 6L6 tubes (My tubes of choice) that came stock...ok...not a real high end amp...but I make it work for Me by pushing the signal with a Ibanez Turbo Tube screamer...I just wonder if anyone has a reccomendation on a better version of 6L6 tubes...bear in mind..Im not a techie guy LOL...

https://www.eurotubes.com/ Bob is a good guy that has a serious thing about tubes and amps. Send him an email he will give you good info, but he is also a complete JJ tube guy. Nothing wrong with JJ's if you ask me , but there are other tubes in the universe.Lots of info on the site but I don't see a full retube kit for your specific amp.

Not to be weird or anything but I know about tough times , had zero income for 5 years or so. The JJ's are cheaper tubes then most. If life was easy ,anyone could do it.

Interestingly enough they sell the replacement tubes for the Valveking...its incumbant upon the buyer to clarify head or combo...

Anyone checked out the Robertson Retrovalves? Doug Roberts (Howard Roberts' son, and quite a player in his own right) designed these drop in 12AX7 replacements with some sort of mysterious analog circuitry built into 'em. They come in cool, medium and hot grade for different distortion characteristics. There seems to be a dearth of information on these things - I found one thread with some user reviews. Any thoughts or comments?
