I hate looking at Craigslist or eBay and seeing a guitar for sale that includes a "Chord". Sure, every guitar includes an A11 (or Em/D) Chord, but do they have a cable?

Chord - a group of notes that are played together
Cord - a group of wires that convey electricity. Usually associated with AC input.
Cable - a group of wires that convey electricity. Usually associated with low-level electricity, such as musical instrument or microphone outputs.

I mike up cabinets all the time. I miked some yesterday, in fact. And while copyediting, I routinely change "mic'd" and "mic'ed" (and, god forbid, "miced") to "miked."

Looks better. Reads better. And there are many examples of similar spelling transformations throughout English usage. 🙂
