What is the most recent live music show you attended?
(Include a review if you want.)

I went to see Weird Al Yankovic last week. His show is heavily programmed so there's not a lot of spontaneity. However, the backing tracks busted during the first song (which would have been "Polka Face") so he brought that one to a quick stop and called out "Radio, Radio" (the Elvis Costello song) which apparently the band uses in such events. Faithful, non ironic rendition, which was a pretty odd way to start a Weird Al Show!

Prior to that I'd seen Ray Davies. Pretty rocking for a senior citizen! Gave me some hope.

Geez, it's pretty rare I get to go out and just watch music. I pretty much don't leave my little boy's side unless I'm being paid to. Last night was an exception, as the family went to the Pacific National Exhibition last night, where, after a couple hours of farm animals and fair-food, we were treated to a performance by Tower of Power(!). It was my first time seeing them, and they were everything I'd hoped, even performing with a substitute singer (he'd worked with them in the past, now singing for AWB). I was struck by the easy camaraderie between all the players; these guys are still having the time of their life up there! David Garibaldi and Rocco Prestia were performing, so I didn't really care if everyone else was a sub that night. A rhythm section for the ages.

Did you mean Bob Brozman? He's the reason I play slide and steel!

Yeah Bob's stellar. His instructional videos were earth shaking and world changing for me. And I do most of my writing at 3am. Good time for reflection and the kid's very much asleep! 😉
